Day 2 - Capitol Hill

An end to the rain meant we could venture on to the eastern anchor of the mall, the Capitol Building. It was crowded, but our tour guide did a great job leading us through the building's rich history and points of interest, including the recently unveiled sculpture of Rosa Parks.

Such a great group!

  1. Seeing the Capitol Bldg in person was an amazing site! I loved the Rosa Parks statue. Its a reminder of the struggles that African Americans had to endure; and to never give up when fighting for equality and justice.

    1. To me her statue seems a little out of place just on where it's located but it is still honorable nonetheless. --Lexi Bohan

  3. I loved the Capitol Building. I admit throughout the trip I was tempted to look at finding a way to guide my career into the political arena. Standing in the same rooms as the greatest leaders of our country once did was a humbling experience.

I also learned I will never try to sneak cashews into the Capitol Building again!!

    1. They were not just any cashews though. They were very expensive ones. Although everyone seemed to love the Capital Building I thought it was a little above average. I would have really enjoyed to see the house and senate wings but they don't visitors in those areas.

    2. @Susan...LOL! I bet you won't try sneaking cashews into the Capitol again! All that time you spent trying to hide them in your purse and he found them anyway...HILARIOUS!!

    3. I agree with Crystal wholeheartedly that the Capitol Building was just "alright". I'd say the experience was mediocre, and the tour was quite disappointing in my opinion. If I was going on the trip again, I would only want to see the outside of the Capitol building because that is was impressed me the most. The inside tour was short, crowded, and the headphones were annoying and distracted me from listening to what the tour guide was actually trying to say.
